JOSEPH

prized possession : his life

Observing the sidewalk traffic before him with heavy eyes, Joseph reveals, “(homeless life) is pretty rough sometimes.” Reluctant to share too much, he attributes his homelessness to a few unfortunate events that occurred after being kicked out of his ex-girlfriend’s house. This downward spiral landed him on the streets only a few months prior. After coming to Denver from Arizona one year ago, Joseph claims that the city has not been kind to him, although he expressed gratitude to be alive, breathing, and surrounded by others in the same boat.

Prized Possession: After joking that he doesn’t have a prized possession on him because he “doesn’t have a bottle of liquor,” Joseph adopts a more serious tone. “I value my life. Life is my most valued possession, because the alternative is death. Life is good man.”
